Baked Spaghetti Health(ier) Version and Toddler Approved

Baked Spaghetti Health(ier) Version and Toddler Approved

I’m always craving my baked spaghetti around this time of year! I use my mama’s spaghetti recipe but just a baked version, and it’s SO delicious! The way I make this recipe health(ier) is by using the Barilla + Protein Pasta and ground turkey. I use the thin spaghetti. It’s super yummy and my toddlers love it! I feel like since I use the healthier pasta, I can eat a lot more, right!:) You can totally use regular pasta. Either way is delicious!

Ingredients

1 package (16 ounces) Barilla + Protein Pasta

1 pound Ground Turkey

1 (15 ounce) can Hunt’s Tomato Sauce

1 (8 ounce) can Hunt’s Basil, Garlic, & Oregano Sauce

1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

1 tbsp Brown Sugar

1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning

1 (7 ounce) jar Sliced Mushrooms drained (optional)

S&P

3 cups Water

1 1/2 cups Shredded Mozzarella

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 7x13 (which is what I use) or a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 2

Lay uncooked pasta flat onto the baking dish and set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground turkey, and season with salt and pepper. Cook and stir until meat is browned, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Step 4

Turn heat down to low and add tomato sauces, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, italian seasoning, sliced mushrooms to the meat. Salt and pepper to taste. Turn on heat to medium to low and simmer for about 5-10 minutes. Allow the ingredients to combine well and the sauce to thicken.

Step 5

Pour meat mixture directly over the pasta. Add the water. Cover with foil. Bake for 45 minutes. Take off the foil when done and add mozzarella. Add as much cheese as you like! Bake for 5-10 more minutes until cheese has melted.

Enjoy!
